We’re recruiting for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Worcester.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in supplier quality and manufacturing to play a key role in developing supplier performance, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Working closely with Procurement, Engineering and Quality teams, you’ll help ensure suppliers consistently deliver the highest standards of quality, reliability and cost-effectiveness while supporting supplier development and localisation projects.
TheSQERole- Managing supplier quality activities throughout the APQP and PPAP process.
- Conducting supplier audits and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Developing and qualifying new suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with existing suppliers.
- Supporting new product introductions from concept through to production launch.
- Driving supplier performance improvements across quality, cost and delivery.
- Investigating supplier quality issues using root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Reviewing manufacturing processes, tooling and process controls to ensure robust production capability.
- Supporting supplier transfer and localisation projects to minimise risk and improve supply chain performance.
- Working collaboratively with Engineering, Procurement and Quality teams to achieve business objectives.
- Previous experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer, Supplier Development Engineer or similar within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, SPC and 8D methodologies.
- Experience carrying out supplier audits and supplier development activities.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Poka-Yoke or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- A solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, castings, pressings or similar.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering or a related discipline.
- Certified Quality Engineer qualification.
- Experience with in automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Willingness to travel to supplier sites when required.
