Overview
Responsibilities cover team leadership across front-end and back-end/night operations, including staffing, coaching, safety, operational efficiency, and customer service excellence. The role includes managing daily operations, driving performance metrics, and ensuring proper processes are followed.
Responsibilities- Team Leadership:
Assigns team members to activities, ensures staff coverage meets customer demands, and redeploys as needed to support department requirements. - Hiring Support:
May participate in interviews and provide input into selection decisions for new associates in the assigned area. - Team Engagement:
Connects with the team daily to understand challenges and elevates issues when necessary. - Coaching and Discipline:
Provides open and timely feedback and performance coaching; redirects problematic behavior and partners with ASM for formal disciplinary action when needed. - Continuous Improvement:
Encourages sharing ideas and best practices to deliver outstanding customer service and support activities; empowers others to make decisions with guidance when necessary. - Acknowledgement and Growth:
Provides recognition for achieving goals and fosters an environment of associate growth through coaching and regular feedback. - Associate Relations:
Identifies associate relations concerns and escalates to senior management or HR as needed. - Operational Excellence:
Empowers teams to follow proper processes and achieve efficiencies; monitors and drives progress toward key operational metrics; identifies barriers and implements timely solutions. - Situational Responsiveness:
Responds quickly to unexpected events by reprioritizing tasks; ensures safety and security. - Safety and Security:
Monitors use of power equipment, keeps doors/gates secured, reports signs of theft, maintains inventory integrity, and conducts daily safety reviews. - Front-End Responsibilities:
Oversees front-end efficiencies, staff headcount allocation, cash handling, and customer service desk activity; payroll closeout; other duties as assigned. - Back-End and Night Operations:
Oversees back-end efficiencies, stocking, freight control, and delivery staging; ensures back-end work does not impact customer shopping; supports replenishment and planograms; overnight shift responsibilities as MOD when applicable. - Manager-on-Duty (MOD):
Provides full store leadership, drives engagement, customer service, staffing, and operational efficiency; conducts in-the-moment coaching and ensures readiness of Specialty/Pro areas.
- Front-End:
See above for front-end responsibilities including customer greeting, phone handling, inquiry responses, staff allocation, and payroll closeout. - Back-End and Night Operations:
See above for back-end responsibilities including receiving, stocking, and delivery staging.
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent years of experience.
- 5 years of experience in a retail environment (or 5 years if education requirement not met).
- Experience directing or supervising teams (with or without direct reports).
- Experience training, mentoring, and developing associates; cross-functional collaboration experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as required by law.
- Experience supporting front-end or back-end operations in retail.
- Customer service and leadership experience with direct reports.
- Experience in the home improvement retail sector and fast-paced environments.
- Experience in a key-carrying role with MOD responsibilities.
- Experience using store computer systems (e.g., Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client).
Pay Range: $20.70 - $22.35 per hour
