Facilities Manager
Standard Bots builds industrial robotic arms that make automation accessible to every manufacturer. We're growing fast — scaling from a lean startup into a high-volume production operation with tens of thousands of robots produced annually. Our Glen Cove facility is the operational heart of that ambition, and we're building it to last.
About the RoleThis role is on-site at our manufacturing facility in Glen Cove, NY. We're hiring a Facilities Manager to own the physical infrastructure of our primary manufacturing campus. This is a foundational role as we scale from a multi-thousand to a 100,000+ sq ft operation with 200+ employees across production, engineering, and corporate functions.
You'll be responsible for the full facilities lifecycle — from day-to-day maintenance and safety compliance to long-range capacity planning as we bring advanced manufacturing processes in-house, including CNC machining, surface finishing and painting, and potentially molten metal casting. You'll work closely with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, EHS, and HR to ensure our facility supports world-class production performance and a safe, productive work environment.
This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role. The right person is equally comfortable reviewing HVAC specs, walking the production floor to identify hazards, negotiating contractor bids, and presenting a capital improvement roadmap to leadership.
What You'll DoTeam Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing facilities team — including facilities technicians, maintenance engineers, IT/OT coordinators, and project coordinators — as the organization scales
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular 1:1s and reviews, and create growth paths that retain top talent
- Foster a culture of safety-first, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team
- Act as a player-coach when needed: lead from the front on complex problems while developing your team's ability to solve independently
- Build staffing plans that anticipate operational needs ahead of facility expansions, ensuring the team scales in step with the business
- Manage all preventive and corrective maintenance programs across production, engineering lab, cleanroom, and office spaces
- Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, and utility systems — including industrial-scale systems supporting heavy manufacturing
- Manage and develop a facilities technician team; oversee contractors and service vendors
- Own facility readiness for high-volume, continuous manufacturing operations (production uptime is a KPI)
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead EHS programs: OSHA compliance, chemical/hazmat management, emergency response plans, fire prevention systems, and industrial hygiene
- Manage permitting and regulatory compliance for industrial processes, including those associated with CNC machining (coolant/chip disposal), spray painting (VOCs, ventilation, fire suppression), and molten casting (high-heat, fume extraction, PPE programs)
- Conduct and document safety audits, near-miss investigations, and corrective actions
- Partner with HR and Engineering on ergonomics, PPE standards, and training programs
Capital Projects, Construction & Expansion
- Own the facility roadmap: plan and execute a continuous pipeline of expansions, tenant improvements, and infrastructure upgrades as we scale to 100,000+ sq ft and beyond
- Lead all phases of construction and improvement projects — scope definition, bid solicitation, contractor selection, permitting, construction oversight, commissioning, and close-out — with multiple projects running in parallel at any given time
- Drive rigorous project management discipline: detailed schedules, milestone tracking, budget control, risk identification, and stakeholder communication from kickoff to ribbon-cut
- Coordinate facility requirements for new process introductions (NPI) — ensuring space, utilities, ventilation, drainage, and workflow are production-ready before equipment arrives
- Maintain accurate facility drawings, equipment layouts, and utility documentation
- Own lessons-learned processes across projects to continuously improve…
