Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Provide instructional assistance to students in subjects aligned with COD curricula and serve as a resource to other academic assistants and peer tutors.
- Deliver tutoring face-to-face or electronically, one-on-one, in small groups, or in class settings.
- Work with minimal supervision and assist supervisor with program and training.
- Maintain current knowledge in subject areas and general study skills (note-taking, test preparation, test-taking strategies, time management, etc.).
- Conduct routine workshops for students, class visits, and similar activities.
- Maintain and compile records (electronic and paper) and oversee Tutoring Services in the supervisor’s absence when applicable.
- Keep resources up to date to inform recommendations for program resources.
- Education:
Associate’s degree required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Experience:
Experience tutoring or providing academic assistance to college or high school students required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in spoken and written English. Up-to-date skills in relevant technology. - Additional note:
Experience tutoring or assisting students who are struggling academically, have learning or physical disabilities, or are non-native English speakers is preferred.
Hourly wage: $20.60. Up to 25 hours per week during academic terms (approximately 40 weeks per year). Some hours may occur in the evenings or on weekends and at off-campus locations. This position is subject to a background check and education verification at the expense of the College.
Pay Grade and Equal OpportunityPay Grade: noncredit nonclassroom Category 5.
