Adjunct Faculty, Developmental English/College English - FA26
College of DuPage believes in the power of teaching and learning. We seek adjunct faculty members to teach Developmental English/College English. COD faculty are committed to facilitating and supporting student success in learning, and we strive to meet the individual educational needs of our unique, multicultural campus.
The successful adjunct candidate will be committed to teaching in a multicultural environment and welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning abilities. Opportunities may exist to teach a flexible schedule that may include teaching assignments during days, evenings, and weekends.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdjunct Faculty instructors at College of DuPage are responsible for course planning and instruction in classroom, lab, or clinical settings. Courses may be conducted in various delivery modes, such as face‑to‑face, online, hybrid, and/or blended formats. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation and for the timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction.
Required Qualifications- Minimum of a Master’s degree in English/Rhet/Comp or a Master’s degree in a related discipline plus 18 semester hours of graduate credit in English/Rhet/Comp is required.
- Experience teaching learners with varying literacy needs is a plus.
- We are seeking instructors to teach English 1101, English 1102, and our co‑requisite English 1101 support model. Instructors who teach the co‑requisite model earn a 1‑hour stipend to participate in bi‑weekly pedagogical discussions.
- Daytime and evening in‑person classes, at main campus / Glen Ellyn, IL.
Ability to teach remotely with technology and experience in online or virtual teaching is preferred. Access to personal technology and a home computer with appropriate capability to teach online is required.
Compensation and BenefitsThese positions are paid by stipends for course assignments.
Additional RequirementsA pre‑employment background check at the College’s expense is required.
