Position Summary: In this role, as a Substitute, the individual will perform functions to instruct students on currently established and predetermined curriculum, ensuring each individual learner is provided with the knowledge, understanding and tools to accomplish tasks set forth with both a feeling of accomplishment and success. The Dedicated Building Substitute Teacher will be assigned to one of our 5 District schools and work a 99-day calendar as a Substitute Teacher in various rooms/roles assisting throughout the school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Makes decisions and demonstrates support of the mission, vision, goals and interests of the district and of students.
- Deliver lesson plans as instructed by the teacher and/or school administrator.
- Be actively engaged with students during your assignment and communicate in a positive way with all students, staff and others.
- Complete daily, and regular housekeeping tasks required of the permanent teacher.
- Actively support a positive learning environment with structured classroom management routines.
- Maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality as it relates to school, student, parent or staff information.
- Complete all duties of the teacher, including supervision assignments (e.g., bus duty, hall duty, lunchroom supervision).
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students within the assigned classroom and appropriately respond to all emergency situations.
- Direct the activities of a classroom assistant(s) as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualification Requirements:
- Illinois State Board of Education licensure requirements for a Substitute Teacher (Professional Educators License/PEL, Substitute Teaching License or Short-Term Substitute Teaching License).
- Experience teaching or working as a Substitute teacher preferred.
- Successful completion of a background investigation.

- Ability to collaborate as a team and work effectively with others.

- Ability to use initiative to solve problems and a willingness to make decisions based on the best interest of the students.
- Lead by example, maintaining a professional demeanor, and serve as a positive example for students.
- Demonstrates exemplary oral and written skills.

Salary: $180 a day
