Special Education Athletic Programs Coordinator
Knowledge of or experience in the organization and administration of special education athletic programs and activities. JOB GOAL:
To provide every student with an opportunity to participate in co-curricular athletics and clubs/activities that will foster physical skills, a sense of belonging, worth and competence; opportunities for friendship, and the principles of fair play and sportsmanship. Additionally, serves as the All-Abilities Week Coordinator for elementary buildings.
Essential Functions:
- Organize and administer All Abilities Week for elementary buildings
- Maintain a directory and calendar of available clubs and activities
- Contribute to the Monthly Inside Track with updates on the inclusive events and celebrations
- Promote inclusivity within all district clubs and activities through regular conversations with coaches and sponsors regarding inclusion and accessibility
- Meet regularly with the Student Services Director
- Work with principals at each school to determine best options for inclusive and accessible opportunities within clubs, activities and athletics
- Work with Director of Student Services to ensure all necessary supplies, staffing and equipment to support inclusion in clubs and activities
- Conduct coaches/sponsor meetings as needed to communicate throughout the year
Skills:
Organization, time management, communication skills, positive behavioral management techniques, task analysis (ability to break down larger tasks/skills into teachable steps), sports knowledge and coaching techniques
Calendar:
Winter & Spring Hours Per Week:
Regular school year. As many hours as needed to complete performance responsibilities. Salary and Benefits: $2,000.00 annually
