The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago. We prepare students for lifelong learning on our 273‑acre campus with nine associate degrees and a range of professional certificates.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct operational, financial, compliance, and technology audits and assist in providing consulting services for the College under the supervision of the Director of Internal Audit.
- Assist and perform internal investigations as required.
- Define the audit scope and prepare and follow detailed programs for reviews or audits.
- Quickly understand and identify compliance and technology requirements and adapt programs to adequately perform audit testing.
- Perform data analysis; prepare audit work papers; draft audit reports, correspondence, and presentations using computer applications.
- Review financial or management operations or programs to determine efficiency and effectiveness and confirm compliance with governmental and accounting standards, practices, and regulations.
- Review, analyze, and evaluate internal controls to determine if they are adequate to minimize risk and protect the College.
- Perform investigative procedures involving allegations or discovery of fraud and/or unethical or inappropriate activities.
- Formulate practical and value-added recommendations to correct internal control deficiencies and improve operational efficiencies.
- Prepare, proof, and edit audit reports for accuracy which include opinions on the adequacy and effectiveness of systems or programs.
- Review audit findings with the Director of Internal Audit and with supervisors and staff of the area being audited.
- Perform audit follow-up to periodically monitor the status of audit findings, recommendations and management actions concerning previous audit findings.
- Interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization in a professional and ethical manner.
- Maintain a working knowledge of federal and state laws with experience in researching them.
- Maintain awareness of College policies and procedures and changes made to them.
- Provide suggestions, recommend standards, and assist in developing long and short term goals for improving the Internal Audit Department’s programs and processes.
- Provide input and feedback for preparing and updating the annual audit plan including the frequency and priority of internal audits.
- Provide consulting services in accordance with internal auditing standards.
- Assist external auditors as needed.
- Complete established continuing education requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or a related subject required.
- Master’s degree or additional certification (Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor) preferred.
- Experience
- 2–3 years of audit experience required.
- 3+ years of internal audit experience preferred.
- Calculator, phone, copier, personal computer and peripherals.
- Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment.
- Work has limited physical effort required; may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
- This position requires a background check and drug screen.
