Job Summary

The Production Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, fitting, mounting, testing, and inspecting electrical control equipment and related assemblies in a manufacturing environment. This role supports the production of panel boards, switchboards, and other electrical assemblies by following engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on assembly experience, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with hand and power tools while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble panel boards, switchboards, and electrical control equipment according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Perform wiring, fitting, mounting, and assembly of subassemblies, components, and finished products.
  • Install and route wiring using established manufacturing procedures and electrical specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices to complete assembly tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of completed assemblies to verify electrical and mechanical integrity.
  • Perform power checks and functional verification using established testing procedures and equipment.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, manufacturing drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Identify and communicate material shortages, quality concerns, or production issues.
  • Receive, organize, and store materials and components as required.
  • Prepare completed products for shipment and support packaging activities.
  • Maintain productivity, quality, and safety standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and workplace safety.
  • Maintain workstations, equipment, tools, and materials in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Cross-train and support multiple production functions based on business and operational needs.
  • Attend required meetings, safety training, and production-related activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an assembly, manufacturing, production, construction, automotive repair, carpentry, or related hands-on environment required.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools required.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturing drawings, work instructions, and assembly documentation.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to inspect and verify quality of assembled products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and support multiple functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive production activities throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in assembly, manufacturing, production, construction, carpentry, automotive repair, or a related hands-on technical environment required.
  • Experience assembling electrical or mechanical products preferred.
  • Experience reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings preferred.
  • Experience with electrical wiring, panel assembly, or switch gear manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience using measuring tools, torque tools, and hardware assembly techniques preferred.
  • Experience operating equipment such as drill presses, press brakes, forklifts, jib cranes, hand carts, and related manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • CNC bus fabrication, press brake, or related fabrication experience preferred.
