An Orion Operating Company, Andrew's, is seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions for a $70 million construction services and maintenance company. This hands‑on role ensures accurate financial statements, strong internal controls, job costing discipline, and timely reporting to support operational and strategic decision‑making. The Controller will manage the accounting team and work closely with operations, service managers, and ownership.
FinancialManagement & Reporting:
- Prepare and review financial statements, including P&L, balance sheets, cash flow statements. and Work in Progress.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, includingproper revenue recognition for percentage of completion accounting and service arrangements.
- Own and execute a 5‑business‑day monthly close including GL and intercompany reconciliations while ensuring accuracy and consistency. Assist with preparation of monthly reporting package.
- Oversee profitability reporting by service line (service, maintenance, construction).
- Ensureaccuratelabor costing, technician productivity reporting, and overhead allocation.
- Establish and enforce internal financial policies and controls.
- Ensure adherence to tax laws, corporate regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Own sales tax compliance and reporting across all applicablejurisdictionsincluding preparing and filingsales tax returns on time.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies for audits and compliance matters.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring efficiency and professional development.
- Support senior management with financial insights for business growth.
- Drive cost optimization and efficiency initiatives to maximize profitability.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in construction accounting or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office, ERPsystemsand financial software.
- Experience in a service‑based construction environment preferred.
- Excellent leadership,analytical, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail, problem‑solving mindset, and ability to work under pressure.
Andrew's determines compensation based on the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Base pay for this position ranges from $155,000 – $165,000, with eligibility for an annual performance bonus on top. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
