Under the direction of the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, the Assistant Coach (Throws) will design and implement a training program for javelin, discus, shot put, and hammer. Additionally, the coach will assist in the recruitment and ongoing evaluation of the student athletes.

This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.

• Establish and maintain a culture of faith, influence, relationships, excellence.
• Day-to-day operations support to include but not limited to:
  • Evaluation of student-athlete performance.
  • Design and implementation of training programs and practice regimens.
  • Competition preparation and coaching.
• Monitor the academic performance of selected student-athletes.
• Provides spiritual guidance, prayer, and support for the team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Competitive or coaching experience in collegiate or high-level track & field

General intercollegiate athletics environment with specific concern for track & field. Meeting with student athletes as needed. Travel to competition and recruitment as needed.

Standard college track & field calendar for in-season and out-of-season plus academic year commitments with respect to support recruitment of prospective student-athletes.

This position is considered to be part-time, exempt from overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
