Overview
Salary: $1030 per load hour (most courses are 3‑4 load hours)
Pima Community College’s Science Division is seeking part‑time instructors to teach academic level Chemistry and Organic Chemistry courses for the 2026‑27 academic year and beyond. Candidates may be hired directly for specific courses or may be placed in a pool for future assignments based on enrollment.
We are looking for qualified adjunct faculty who can teach the following disciplines:
Preparation for Chemistry, Chemistry for health‑related majors, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. Primary delivery is in‑person, but faculty may also teach in hybrid or online formats.
- Instruct students in the content area and support them in achieving academic success.
- Follow established protocols for presence, responsiveness, grading, attendance, and assessment of student learning.
- Use current, effective classroom‑management techniques.
- Monitor and continuously improve instruction to ensure Student Learning Outcomes are met at classroom, program, and institutional levels.
- Evaluate student performance.
- Continually improve instruction using appropriate delivery methods.
- Maintain competency and currency in the teaching field(s), teaching strategies, subject delivery modalities, and assessment methods.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students, using a collegial style in all communications.
- Master’s degree in the field of study OR Master’s degree in any discipline plus 18 graduate semester hours in the field of study.
- For developmental courses (CHM 080):
Bachelor’s degree in the field of study OR Bachelor’s degree in any field with 24 semester credit hours in the field of study. - Fields of study include chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or another closely related field.
- Experience teaching Chemistry courses.
- Experience teaching in multiple modalities (in‑person, hybrid, online).
- Experience using a Learning Management System, preferably D2L Brightspace.
- Ability to adapt instruction to diverse student learning styles and to work with accommodations and accessibility needs.
- Skill in assessing students’ educational progress and in maintaining high instruction standards to meet course objectives and Student Learning Outcomes.
- Graduate degree not in the field of study: provide a list of directly related graduate‑level courses in a separate attachment.
- Dissertation considered toward certification: submit the dissertation abstract as an attachment.

Degrees and courses qualifying for Pima Community College teaching certification must be from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates completing additional coursework to meet the minimum qualifications must have the degree conferred before an offer to teach.
A degree earned outside the United States may require evaluation by a NACES‑member service. Check with the Faculty Qualifications and Hiring Office before ordering an evaluation.
