Job Description

Under general direction, incumbent(s) handles the implementation of the school discipline, truancy, and tardiness programs. In addition, incumbent(s) recommends appropriate level of disciplinary action for students, investigates referrals, documents and maintains proper paperwork, while supporting a positive and productive climate and culture.

Essential Functions
  • Handles the implementation of the school-wide behavior management, bullying, truancy, and tardiness programs by working with administration and the School Discipline Committee, school staff, and the District office.
  • Recommends appropriate level of disciplinary action for students who violate school expectations. Investigates discipline referrals. Completes paperwork and data entry requirements.
  • Implements disciplinary action according to District and school policies and procedures.
  • Models and facilitates school-wide programs that promote positive self-esteem, decision‑making skills, conflict resolution, and peer mediation.
  • Supports interventions for teachers and parents prior to Team Approach Process (TAP) referrals, including participating in child study teams, monitoring functional behavioral assessments and student behavior intervention plans. Supplies pertinent discipline and attendance data to support the TAP process.
  • Communicates with staff, parents, and students regarding discipline, truancy, and tardiness. Communicates with parents, under direction of the principal, regarding student progress and concerns including improvements in specific academic areas and behavioral problems.
  • Assists the principal and school team in conducting threat assessments using District guidelines.
  • Reports student conduct to applicable law enforcement agencies. Collaborates with resource officers and local law enforcement agencies regarding prevention plans.
  • Monitoring and observing classrooms, hallways and recess areas for student behaviors.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, professional development seminars and other student support related meetings.
  • Maintain visibility and accessibility on the school campus and at school-related activities and events during work day.
  • Recognize indicators of disruption of the orderly conduct of the school and implement strategies.
  • Participation in school wide climate and culture team to evaluate data, discuss strategies and implementing new ideas for continuing positive behavior between students, staff and community.
  • Provide guidance to and instruction for teachers in the implementation of discipline policies and school safety, with training provided as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Two years of work experience with students.
  • High school diploma.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a public education system.
  • Two years of student services related experience.
  • Possession of a valid CPI Certification Card.
