General DescriptionUnder the direction of the special education teacher, the behavior coach will provide assistance to children who are in a special education program.
Qualifications- Experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disabled/disordered students in a school, mental health, or hospital setting preferred
- Knowledge of child development concepts and practices
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
- Must be able to pass a background check upon employment
- Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (offered at the district)
- First Aid and CPR training certification (offered at the district)
- Work intensively with students who have been unable to function effectively in the classroom and immediately deal with individual student behavioral/emotional problems
- Communicate reality-based problem solving techniques to students
- Maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Maintain First Aid and CPR training certification
- Assist in developing and administering educational programs for behaviorally/emotionally and/or academically challenged students
- Assist teachers in the classroom by interacting with disruptive, off‑task, or emotionally needy students interfering with progress
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of logs, reports, files, reviews, etc.
- Escort children to the bus, time‑out, the nurse's office, and across campus
- Facilitate decision‑making and communication between students and teachers
- Follow District Policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
Calendar: 10 Months; 35 hrs/week
Salary Range: $16.49 - $20.02 Per Hour (Dependent upon years of experience)
