Defensive Coordinator

Arizona Christian University is seeking a passionate, driven, and knowledgeable Defensive Coordinator to lead and develop our women’s flag football defense. This position is responsible for designing and implementing defensive strategies, developing student-athletes, and contributing to a competitive, disciplined, and high-character team culture. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, teacher of the game, and leader who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, install, and oversee all defensive schemes, game plans, and in-game adjustments

Lead defensive position meetings, film breakdown, and opponent scouting

Coach and develop defensive players with an emphasis on fundamentals, technique, and football IQ Collaborate with the Head Coach and offensive staff to ensure a cohesive team approach

Assist in practice planning and execution, including drills and competitive periods

Evaluate player performance and provide consistent feedback and accountability

Contribute to recruiting efforts, including identifying, evaluating, and building relationships with prospective student-athletes

Promote a culture of discipline, accountability, and academic success

Support program operations, including travel, compliance, and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Previous coaching experience (flag football preferred; tackle football considered)
Strong understanding of defensive concepts, coverages, and flag football strategy

Ability to teach and develop athletes of varying skill levels

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Commitment to the mission and values of Arizona Christian University Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

Preferred Qualifications:

Collegiate coaching or playing experience

Experience coordinating a defense or leading a position group

Recruiting experience at the high school or collegiate level

Compensation:

This is a stipend-based position. Compensation will be discussed based on experience and qualifications.
