About the RoleWe are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented
Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant (W/WWTP)
Construction Inspector – Inside Plant
to support critical infrastructure projects. This role focuses on vertical construction and the installation of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/control systems within treatment facilities.
The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience inspecting W/WWTP construction projects and supporting equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and control system integration. You will work closely with contractors, engineers, and owners to ensure projects are delivered safely, accurately, and in compliance with all design and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll DoPerform daily on-site inspections of inside plant construction activities.
Verify compliance with project plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards.
Prepare detailed daily reports, inspection logs, non‑conformance notices, and progress photographs.
Inspect vertical and architectural components including buildings, pump stations, and control rooms.
Review installation of electro‑mechanical control systems for water and wastewater facilities.
Inspect electrical systems such as motor control centers (MCCs), switch gear, conduit runs, grounding, and power distribution.
Monitor mechanical system installation and testing, including pumps, motors, generators, blowers, piping, valves, HVAC systems, odor control systems, and flushing water systems.
Coordinate inspection and testing of instrumentation and control systems including PLCs, SCADA, sensors, actuators, and cabling.
Participate in commissioning, startup, and functional testing activities.
Witness and document I/O testing, programming efforts, and system integration with overall plant controls.
Maintain complete and organized construction documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
What We’re Looking For Required Skills & KnowledgeStrong understanding of W/WWTP processes and integrated MEI systems.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
Familiarity with vertical construction materials and finishes used in treatment facilities.
Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and applicable regulatory codes.
Experience with SCADA systems, sensors/instrumentation, RTUs, and PLC fundamentals; startup troubleshooting experience is a plus.
Understanding of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Excellent documentation, communication, and coordination skills.
Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, or similar construction software platforms.
Preferred Qualifications3–5+ years of experience in W/WWTP construction inspection or plant operations.
NICET, ICC, or OSHA 30 certification.
Experience performing control panel inspections, loop checks, and signal calibration.
Exposure to commissioning agents, system integrators, or startup contractors.
