Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Mechanical Engineer
STS Technical Services is hiring Electromechanical Technicians in Waddell, Arizona. This role supports the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting and performance optimization of advanced automated systems while also providing 3D and 2D CAD project support for the Engineering team when not supporting mechanical and automation clients.
This is a fast-paced, hands‑on position with direct customer interaction. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial automation or plant environments, strong troubleshooting skills and the willingness to learn and adapt to client requirements.
Position OverviewThe Electromechanical Technician will support equipment maintenance, customer communication, continuous improvement, spare parts management, workshop organization and CAD/design updates. This role requires strong technical knowledge across electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems, along with experience using 3D and 2D CAD software.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting- Ensure equipment efficiency by conducting scheduled inspections and interval‑based maintenance activities
- Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshooting to resolve equipment failures and restore optimal functionality
- Carry out preventive maintenance activities according to established maintenance plans
- Report completed activities, system performance updates and findings to both the customer and client
- Participate in periodic meetings with customer representatives to review system performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Provide on‑the‑job training to customer personnel to support proper equipment operation and minor maintenance
- Identify and report anomalies, technical issues and system irregularities to the client
- Promote corrective measures and long‑term solutions
- Recommend and support improvement projects, system modifications and equipment enhancements to increase reliability and efficiency
- Manage onsite spare parts inventory
- Monitor stock levels and recommend reorder points or procurement needs
- Organize and maintain the onsite maintenance workspace, tools and equipment provided by the client and their customers
- Work with the local Engineering team to facilitate design and schematic updates in various software platforms
- Update electrical schematic drawings for large manufacturing machines
- Design and develop parts for production or prototyping with 3D printers
- Technical Diploma in Electromechanics, Industrial Automation or a related field
- Proven experience as an Electro‑Mechanical Technician, Field Service Technician, Electrician, Automation Engineer or similar role within industrial automation or plant environments
- 2 years of relevant technical experience
- 2 years of experience with 3D or 2D CAD software
- Engineering or equivalent technical diploma optional
Skills and Abilities
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical schematics and drawings
- Working knowledge of PLC platforms is a plus, including Siemens, Beckhoff, Fanuc, Allen‑Bradley and Rockwell
- Ability to work with 3D CAD software, including Solid Works, Auto Desk Inventor or PTC Creo
- Ability to work with AutoCAD 2D software, AutoCAD Electrical or schematic tools
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Willingness to learn and adapt to client requirements
