Position: TEMPORARY - SPECIAL EVENT ATTENDANT (19 HOURS OR LESS)

Provides temporary, part-time support for City of Glendale special events, festivals, programs and community activities. This position assists Special Events staff with event preparation, setup, operations, teardown and provides customer service to vendors, performers and the public. Work is performed under the direction of the Special Event Administrator, Program Manager or other assigned Special Events staff. This is a hands‑on position that may require working outdoors, standing and walking for extended periods, moving event equipment and working evenings, weekends and occasionally holidays.

  • Assists Special Events staff with the setup, operation and teardown of City special events, festivals and community activities.
  • Sets up, moves and breaks down tables, chairs, barricades, pedestrian fencing, signs, tents and other event equipment and supplies.
  • Provides event-day assistance to vendors, performers, and the public, including answering routine questions, providing directions and directing individuals to the appropriate City staff member when additional assistance is needed.
  • Assists with vendor check-in, vendor locations and other basic vendor‑related activities as directed by Special Events staff.
  • Help monitor event areas to ensure barricades, signs, equipment and other event elements remain properly positioned throughout the event.
  • Assists with placement and removal of event signage, directional signs and informational materials.
  • Helps maintain event areas by picking up debris, removing trash and keeping public and operational areas clean, organized and presentable.
  • Assists with loading, unloading, transporting, organizing and storing event equipment and supplies.
  • Observes event areas and promptly reports safety concerns, damaged equipment, unauthorized activity or other issues to the appropriate Special Events staff member.
  • Provides professional and courteous customer service and represents the City of Glendale in a positive manner when interacting with residents, visitors, vendors, contractors and other City employees.
  • Follows instructions from the Special Event Administrator, Program Manager and other designated City staff and work cooperatively as part of the Special Events team.
  • Assists with basic event preparation and administrative tasks when needed, including organizing supplies, preparing event materials and other event‑related duties.
  • Must be dependable, able to follow direction and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be comfortable working with the public in a busy event environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Previous experience with special events, festivals, concerts, recreation programs, hospitality, customer service or similar public‑facing work is preferred.
    • Event setup, teardown or basic audio‑visual experience is a plus
    • Any equivalent combination of training, volunteer experience and work experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
    Special Requirements
    • Must be available to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, holidays and variable shifts based on the City's event schedule.
    • Must be able to work extended shifts when required for event setup, operation and teardown.
    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
    • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to lift, carry, push and move items weighing up to 35 pounds
      .
    • Must be able to assist with moving and setting up tables, chairs, barricades and other event equipment.
    • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Position may require frequent walking throughout large event sites.
    • Must be able to work in environments with crowds, amplified music and other normal special‑event conditions.
