The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the design and implementation of new global payrolls, statutory verification, and oversight of National and Expatriate payrolls processed biweekly and monthly. This position will work closely with the Processing Team in New Delhi, Change Control and Expatriate Tax, and will collaborate on new payroll setups, day‑to‑day payroll operations, and ensuring compliance with statutory labor law and Bechtel policy.
Support for downstream processing, 3rd‑party remittance, account reconciliation, and system design changes is also required. The role is part‑time telework, requiring at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
- Assists and coordinates the day‑to‑day operations of the Payroll department
- Coordinates processing schedules of groups for which payroll processing shares dependencies
- Ensures accurate and timely payroll processing and employee payments
- Ensures the integrity of the employee data held in the payroll system
- Creates and balances all outbound files for banking, labor and tax
- Reviews the creation of third‑party remittance file for accounts payable processing
- Provides functional analysis, feedback and support for system design changes and enhancements
- Supports the account reconciliation department monitoring payroll accounts
- Provides oversight for agency labor responsibilities
- Other job duties as assigned
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or Business and 1–2 years of applicable Finance work experience, or, in lieu of a degree, 5–6 years of related experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills- Proficient in organizing work activities to meet daily and weekly deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven capability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Self‑starter able to use sound business judgment in carrying out assigned tasks
- Skilled in using MS‑Excel for various ad‑hoc analysis activities
- SAP Payroll experience (Preferred)
- Familiar with journal entry process in Oracle Financial (Preferred)
- Knowledge of Bechtel's general ledger and chart of accounts (Preferred)
