Regulatory Compliance Specialist
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the design and implementation of new global payrolls, statutory verification, and oversight of National and Expatriate payrolls processed biweekly and monthly. This position will work closely with the Processing Team in New Delhi, Change Control and Expatriate Tax. In this role, you will collaborate in the design and implementation of new payroll setups. You will assist the Payroll Processing Team with day-to-day payroll operations.
You will collaborate with other groups to ensure each payroll complies with statutory labor law and Bechtel policy. You will provide support for downstream processing, 3rd party remittance, account reconciliation and system design changes. Your work will ensure the integrity of employee data. This position is designated as part‑time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
Weekly in‑person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
- Assist and may coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of the Payroll department
- Coordinate processing schedules of groups for which payroll processing shares dependencies
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and employee payments
- Ensure the integrity of the employee data held in the payroll system
- Assist and may coordinate in the creation and balancing of all outbound files for banking, labor and tax
- Coordinate and may review the creation of third‑party remittance file for accounts payable processing
- Provide functional analysis, feedback and support for system design changes and enhancements
- Support the account reconciliation department monitoring payroll accounts
- Provide oversight for agency labor responsibilities
- Other job duties as assigned
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or Business and 1-2 years of applicable Finance work experience or, in lieu of a degree, 5-6 years of related experience.
- Proficient in organizing work activities to meet daily and weekly deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven capability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Self‑starter able to use sound business judgment in carrying out assigned tasks
- Skilled in using MS‑Excel for various ad‑hoc analysis activities
- SAP Payroll experience (Preferred)
- Familiar with journal entry process in Oracle Financial (Preferred)
- Knowledge of Bechtel’s general ledger and chart of accounts (Preferred)
