Role Summary

The Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Manager (FP&A Manager) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and strategic analysis across the organization. This position bridges strong accounting fundamentals with forward-looking financial insight, ensuring data integrity while enabling informed business decision‑making. The FP&A Manager will manage the full spectrum of responsibilities ranging from intermediate‑level technical execution to management‑level leadership.

This role will directly supervise department team members, and provide daily leadership, coaching, and direction to ensure high‑quality outputs and professional development.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis, Reporting & Insights

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasts, and long‑range financial planning for COS' US and UK entities (“the entities”)
  • Develop and maintain financial models and dashboards to support business decisions and scenario planning, including cashflow management
  • Analyze financial performance, including budget vs. actuals, and provide monthly reports and actionable insights to COS' executive leadership
  • Enhance reporting capabilities through dashboards, automation, and process improvements; recommend improvements
  • Prepare ad‑hoc financial analyses as requested by senior management
  • Conduct financial analysis on cost‑saving initiatives and revenue growth opportunities
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in financial planning and analysis

Strategic & Cross‑Functional Partnership

  • Act as a finance business partner to research business unit leaders, providing decision support and financial guidance
  • Influence strategic initiatives through data‑driven analysis and financial storytelling
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency
  • Along with senior research leadership, further develop proposal costing models
  • Provides review and analysis of proposal costings in collaboration with internal contracts team to ensure mathematical accuracy and proper evaluation of business risks

Accounting Integration and Compliance

  • Leverage strong accounting knowledge to ensure alignment between financial reporting and underlying accounting data
  • Collaborate closely with accounting teams on month‑end close, accruals, and financial statement accuracy
  • Support and ensure compliance with applicable accounting and tax standards (e.g., U.S. GAAP and relevant international standards)
  • Identify and help manage business factors that contribute to the mitigation of financial and enterprise risk (business insurance coverage, state business compliance, etc.)
  • Assists a variety of external consultants and advisors (e.g. CPA's, tax preparers, attorneys, statutory agents, insurance brokers, etc.) for the purpose of providing and analyzing requested information

Leadership and Team Management

  • Directly manage and mentor department team members, providing daily guidance, prioritization, and performance feedback
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth, by supporting team development across both technical accounting and analytical finance competencies
