Position Summary
:
Performs blood specimen collection, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested. Will process anatomic pathology and cytology specimens; assists pathologists and histotechs, as needed. Will supervise or lead lab assistant I and II positions, as requested. Completes prioritization, receipt, registration and distribution of specimens. Has responsibility for sendout/reference lab shipping, tracking and billing.
Will perform waived testing, as requested. Will assist with processing of anatomic pathology specimens including preparation of microscopic tissue slides, staining and specimen management, as requested.

- Minimum Requirements
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. - Experience:
3 years of laboratory experience. - Preferred Requirements
- Education:
Associates degree in laboratory or medical related field from an accredited institution. - Experience:
Basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience. - Certification/Registrations:
Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar. - Skills Required
- Interpersonal skills to interact in a professional and competent manner using effective listening, verbal and written communications with patients, clients, laboratory colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

- Team-work skills contributing to departmental success.
- Operate basic laboratory equipment, computers and medical software.
- Accurate data entry into medical software.
- Attention to detail to verify relevant data and process specimens ensuring appropriate specimens are handled, packaged and shipped to the designated laboratory according to established protocols and specimen integrity.
