Software Engineering Supervisor – Player / Coach Role

Location: Glendale, AZ (Onsite)

Salary Range: $150,000 – $175,000

We’re seeking a Software Engineering Supervisor who thrives in a hybrid role—spending about 50% hands-on coding and design and 50% leading people, process, and delivery
. You’ll collaborate with Product and QA teams to transform ideas into scalable, reliable solutions while fostering a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, and innovation.

• Design and implement back-end services and APIs (primarily Node.js/Type Script ).
• Write automated tests (unit/integration), optimize performance, and ensure security.
• Own critical features end-to-end—from design through production rollout and monitoring.

• Lead a team of 5–8 engineers with clear goals, regular 1:1s, coaching, and career development.
• Drive delivery: capacity planning, sprint execution, and risk management.
• Champion engineering excellence: code reviews, CI/CD, observability, and security best practices.
• Collaborate across Product, QA, SRE/Cloud, and Support to deliver robust solutions.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership.
• Database: MS SQL Server (performance tuning, indexing)
• Infrastructure: Docker, AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, IAM), IaC (Terraform/Cloud Formation)
• Tools: Git Hub, JIRA, CI/CD pipelines

• 6–8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role

• Proven experience delivering production software with Node.js and service-oriented architectures.
• Strong coding, design, and debugging skills combined with people leadership.
• Solid understanding of secure coding, scalability, and reliability best practices.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

• SaaS experience and high-throughput, mission-critical services.
• AWS cost optimization and SQL performance tuning.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC
  2).
