Job Summary

The Tech Support Technician is responsible for answering help desk calls for general tech assistance, using the Maricopa Help Desk (MHD) ticketing system. This position sets up and assists with live events on campus and operates and troubleshoots classroom media systems. Must install and troubleshoot basic IT issues for both Windows and Mac computers and peripherals, maintaining a high standard of customer support.

Essential

Functions
  • 30% – Respond to service calls and help desk tickets; install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows and Mac computer hardware, software, and peripherals while maintaining strong customer service.
  • 25% – Use the MHD ticketing system to log, track, and document all support activities. Communicate status updates and resolutions clearly and professionally.
  • 20% – Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot classroom media and instructional technology systems to ensure reliable support for teaching and learning environments.
  • 20% – Set up, operate, and support audio/visual and technology needs for live events on campus, including presentations, meetings, and special events.
  • 5% – Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental operations and institutional goals.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and one year of experience with desktop user support or technical support for equipment, networks, systems, telecommunications, or technology security, appropriate to assignment.

OR an equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification, and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Desired Qualifications
  • One year of IT support and/or installation work experience.
  • One year of AV support or installation work experience.
  • One year of Event support work experience.
  • Valid IT or AV Certifications.
  • Associate’s Degree or college-level tech courses.
  • One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years.
Special Working Conditions
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required.
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense.
  • May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends.
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
  • May require lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.
