Role Overview
Under general supervision, the Enterprise Network Engineer ensures smooth operation of the enterprise‑wide voice and data network, delivering maximum performance and availability for users. The role involves designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting LAN, WAN, and VoIP infrastructures within the City.
The position is FLSA exempt and paid a salary regardless of hours worked. It is a Grade 415 employee with an annual salary between $97,902 and $146,853 (Effective 6/27/26).
Responsibilities- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Three years of experience designing and supporting local and wide area networks.
- One or more industry‑recognized networking or relevant certifications (Cisco, Palo Alto, and/or Microsoft preferred).
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Personal computer hardware and software, server computer hardware and software, local area networks, wide area networks, converged voice and data networked applications, Active Directory, Ethernet, TCP/IP, Cisco LAN/WAN, and Mitel IP Phones.
- Network security and control models.
- Technical working knowledge of networks, telephony, and data center components.
- Project management.
- Disaster recovery preparedness.
- Network and telephony converged network design.
- Current industry trends and best practices.
- Operate in a multi‑Cloud environment (preferred).
- Create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning of network communication systems.
- Work effectively with users, technical personnel and consultants to achieve stated objectives.
- Install, configure and support a variety of computer hardware and software including but not limited to server and desktop operating systems/applications and network hardware and software.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with City staff and the public.
