The Student Services Specialist Senior position in Admissions, Records, and Registration plays a critical role in supporting student completion and graduation efforts. This position will specialize in identifying students who have completed, or are near completion of, degree and certificate requirements by analyzing student records and academic data. Through proactive outreach, the position helps ensure eligible students receive their earned credentials and connects students who are close to completion with academic advising and support services.

The position is responsible for the accurate evaluation and awarding of degrees and certificates and for ensuring compliance with institutional, district, state, and accreditation requirements. These responsibilities are essential to promoting student success, maintaining the integrity of academic records, and ensuring accurate reporting of GCC's graduation and completion outcomes. The Specialist Senior also supports department operations by identifying opportunities to improve processes and workflows through strong, analytical, technical, and data management skills.

The work performed directly supports the college's strategic goals related to student retention, completion, and achievement.

Essential Functions

30% Serves as the primary technical expert for proactive graduation evaluations. Evaluates student records to determine eligibility for graduation based on institutional program-specific requirements. Processes and tracks graduation applications and ensures timely and accurate awarding of degrees and certificates.

30% Maintains internal spreadsheets, databases, and reports for organization and data tracking. Uses Student Information System for a variety of tasks, including running degree progress reports, establishing graduation status, and awarding.

20% Supports Admissions and Records operational planning and execution of graduation and completion initiatives, including active participation in college and district graduation committees.

10% Evaluate and post college transcripts, credit by exam/evaluation (PLA), correcting degree audit issues, and troubleshooting related technical errors.

10% - Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the department and college
