Production Planning Planner II

Location:

Glendale, AZ Duration: 12+ Months

Role

Purpose:

The Site Integrated Planner plays a critical role in aligning finish good production, material availability and distribution requirements with customer needs and inventory goals. This role combines three key responsibilities:
Production Planning (PP), Material Replenishment Planning (MRP), and Distribution Requirement Planning (DRP). The planner ensures an operationally and financially optimized production, distribution and material requirements plan that delivers service and inventory goals while supporting efficient and reliable site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Planning Develop and maintain a detail by SKU production plan, typically for a 13-weeks rolling horizon (short-term planning), for a designated area of products or production lines, balancing customer demand, inventory levels, material availability, and capacity. Identify capacity constraints and adjust plans accordingly. Integrate new product introductions into the production plan. Establishes and maintain accurate production planning parameters (lot sizes, yields, safety stock) and partners with site teams to maintain accurate production Master Data (e.g. routings) Use planning systems (e.g. ERP) and scenario analysis tools to build the optimal schedule.

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, logistics, planning, finance) on scheduling assumptions and performance.
  • Material Requirement Planning (MRP) Create and adjust material requirements schedules based on demand and inventory positions. Create and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders for materials, ensuring materials arrive on time and in full. Proactively identifies material shortages or excess and work with suppliers and procurement to mitigate risks. Establishes and maintain accurate material planning parameters (MOQ, lead times, safety stock) and partners with site/division teams to maintain accurate Master Data (e.g. BOM) Align short- and mid-term supply plans with procurement Partners with Procurement on material supply network improvement projects
  • Distribution Replenishment Planning (DRP) Generate and maintain distribution replenishment plans across all downstream locations and channels based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and transportation lead times Balance inventory across the network to avoid stockouts or excess while minimizing logistics costs. Release and track transfer orders from the site to receiving warehouses or distribution centers Monitor in-transit and on-hand inventory at each location and take corrective actions as needed.

    Coordinate with warehousing and transportation teams to ensure execution of planned shipments. Utilize planning tools and ERP systems to create stock transfer orders (STOs) and monitor their execution
  • Analysis & Reporting Analyze short-term (13-week) supply plans to identify gaps, bottlenecks, or risks. Report and manages input key metrics including MPS, Material Availability rate, backorder risks, inventory within limits, and capacity utilization. Reports and manages gap analysis and plans for planning output metrics including site service results (e.g. Ship-to-Commit, OTIF) and inventory levels. Monitor daily and weekly adherence to input KPIs, initiates/perform root cause analysis and support/owns corrective actions for recurrent execution and planning issues.
  • Systems & Process Improvement Maintain and improve planning systems for both production and material planning. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase utilization, reduce waste, and optimize customer service. Adopts and executes Corning's integrated planning standards and support automation and digitalization efforts.
  • Collaboration & Communication Partner closely with division's integrated planning roles, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, customer service, and finance teams. Clearly communicate changes in plans and rationale across the organization. Support SIOP process by integrating near- and mid-term plans with strategic planning.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering or related field —or equivalent experience. 2+ years' experience in production, logistics, or material planning within a manufacturing or supply chain environment Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and planning tools strongly preferred Strong mathematical and analytical skill Familiarity with planning system features like scenario analysis and capacity management Analytical thinking and problem-solving Effective communication—both written and verbal Collaboration across cross-functional teams Attention to details and ownership Data interpretation and reporting Continuous improvement mind-set
