Akkodis is seeking a buyer for one of our clients in Glendale, Arizona.
Rate Range: $27.00/hour to $30.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support a high-volume aerospace and defense procurement organization. This role is responsible for managing complex procurement activities, conducting supplier source selections, negotiating pricing and contractual terms, and ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and internal procurement policies.
The Senior Buyer will independently execute the full procurement lifecycle, from requisition review through purchase order award and administration, while supporting government and military aerospace programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, negotiation, and supplier management skills, along with experience documenting price reasonableness, maintaining audit-ready procurement files, and working within SAP or other ERP systems.
Requirements- Minimum of 6+ years of purchasing, procurement, subcontract management, or government sourcing experience, preferably within aerospace, defense, or government contracting environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting government purchasing activities in compliance with FAR, DFARS, and customer contractual requirements.
- Conduct market research, supplier sourcing, and competitive bid evaluations in accordance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Review and process purchase requisitions and develop solicitation and request-for-quote (RFQ) packages.
- Analyze supplier proposals, quotations, and technical requirements to support procurement decisions.
- Prepare procurement summaries, source selection documentation, sole-source justifications, and competitive bid evaluations.
- Perform price and cost analysis utilizing adequate price competition, historical pricing, market research, and other approved methodologies.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contractual terms with suppliers to achieve best value outcomes.
- Issue, administer, and monitor purchase orders and subcontract modifications throughout the procurement lifecycle.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready procurement documentation suitable for government and customer reviews.
- Strong knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations, procurement compliance requirements, and government contracting practices.
- Experience using SAP and/or other ERP systems for procurement and purchasing activities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume procurement environment with minimal supervision.
