Fleet Technician - Automotive

The City of Glendale's Field Operations Department provides essential services that directly impact the community and provide support to other departments within the city. The Field Operations Department is made up of four separate divisions that include Solid Waste Management, Fleet Management, Facilities Management, and the Landfill.

Performs intermediate maintenance and repair work, including routine mechanical work and minor overhauls to a wide variety of fleet equipment.

This is the second of a four-level classification series of fleet technicians with progressively responsible duties.

A Fleet Technician is assigned to one of the following assignments:
Automotive Assignment

• Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on light-duty and medium-duty fleet equipment.
• Fleet equipment includes various types of vehicles, including police patrol, passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks, motorcycles, and landscaping equipment.
• Repair and maintain all vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, driveline, suspension, steering, brakes, electrical, and HVAC.
• Performs major and minor repairs and maintenance on a variety of light-duty passenger vehicles, police patrol, medium-duty trucks, motorcycles, or landscaping equipment.

• FLSA Non-exempt, and will earn overtime for any hours worked over 40 in a week.
• A Grade 317 with an hourly salary between $28.8957 - $43.3438.

This role is assigned to work day shift, Monday
- Friday (6:30am - 3:00pm)

• 10.5 paid holidays per year, and full-time employees are also granted an additional 12 hours of holiday special leave per calendar year to celebrate their cultural or religious holidays
• Vacation leave accrues at:
  • 5.33 hours per pay period (138 hours/17.25
    * days per year)
  • Increases to 6.12 hours per pay period after 5 years
  • Then caps out at 7.6 hours per pay period after 10 years of service
• Sick leave accrues at 4.4 hours per pay period (114 hours/14.25 days
  * per year)

• Contribution is mandatory, and deducted every pay period
• The current contribution rate is 11.98%
