Serves as an academic dean responsible for student-centered leadership for the District; provides supervision, guidance and direction for programming, courses, services, faculty and staff in assigned cluster of departments and activities; directs, develops, implements and evaluates academic and related programs; supervises the areas of Nursing, Allied Health programs, Emergency Medicine (EMT);
Paramedic and Fire Science programs, works with each Division Chair/Director to problem solve issues that arise on a daily basis; oversees the payment of faculty and adjuncts; professionally develops staff and Chairs/Directors to manage their areas and supervise their faculty; provides leadership for the development and assessment of new curriculum and programs to meet the needs of students and industry;

identifies programs that have few students and works with the Director/Chair to recruit students or determines if the program should be closed; actively participates, develops and/or leads the development of partnerships and community involvement activities; works with the Academic VP to provide assistance where needed; serves all students as a TRUE Learning Community by promoting student success through student learning, student development, and student retention;

and serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet which works as the administrative body on initiatives at the College.

  • Oversees the College’s Nursing and Allied Health programs, which include Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Health Information Management, Pharmacy Technician, Aesthetician, Medical Assistant, Clinical Lab Assistant, Medical Lab Technician, and Massage Therapy. Emergency Medicine (EMT), Paramedic and Fire Science programs complete the areas of responsibility.
  • Develops, implements, manages and evaluates academic programs; provides leadership and maintains accountability for assigned department’s operations.
  • Oversees the development and evaluation of new academic programs and services that meet the needs of students and the community; enhances a culture of inquiry in which faculty and staff use thoughtful interpretation of assessment information to improve teaching and learning; monitors program standards, ensures compliance with college policies and procedures and oversees external accrediting requirements and national licensures; and recommends and guides modifications as required.
  • Serves as liaison with community and local industry representatives and outside agencies to determine needs for existing and additional programs; provides leadership for faculty in the development of programming that meets changing industry needs; participates in internal and external professional activities; and develops and participates in external resource development.
  • Assists in the development of marketing strategies leading to program recognition and growth.
  • Supervises and evaluates faculty, staff, class schedules, and respective budgets; promotes and supports the professional development of District faculty and staff; and provides guidance and resources for student-centered initiatives.
  • Manages and directs the short and long-range strategic planning of the divisions in support of College goals and objectives; develops and implements budgets; manages approved budgets; oversees monitoring of equipment/inventories for multiple programs; establishes operating procedures for the Division, and maintains liaison with other divisions and departments of the College on matters relating to academic programs, physical assets, and facilities.
  • Assists with large-scale facilities plan for one of the campuses, a Health Care programs hub.
  • Participates in committee assignments and in the recruitment and retention of students.
  • Performs other duties commensurate with functions and level of position or as assigned.
  • EDUCATION:

    Master’s degree.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Five (5) years of progressively responsible applicable experience in a higher education setting. Previous experience overseeing healthcare programs in higher education preferred.

    SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS:
    Travel within the required county.
