JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Summary: The Nacelle Component Shop Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, disassembly, repair, assembly, and testing of aircraft nacelle components such as thrust reversers, fan cowls, inlet cowls, and exhaust systems. The mechanic ensures all work is performed in compliance with FAA regulations, OEM specifications, and company quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing of thrust reversers and nacelle components.
  • Evaluate components for wear, corrosion, delamination, and structural damage in accordance with OEM maintenance manuals and FAA regulations.
  • Conduct precision fitting, adjustment, and alignment of moving parts including translating cowls, blocker doors, actuators, and linkages.
  • Perform composite repairs, including sanding, bonding, curing, and finishing of thrust reverser inner and outer skins.
  • Replace or refurbish latches, hinges, seals, and acoustic panels as required.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as pneumatic drills, riveters, precision measuring tools, and curing ovens.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed, including inspection findings, parts usage, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with engineering and quality control teams on repair plans and technical discrepancies.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards in the component shop at all times.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school training in aviation maintenance preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands‑on experience working with nacelle components and/or thrust reverser assemblies.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft nacelle systems and related ATA chapters (especially ATA 78 – Exhaust).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with bonding techniques, composite materials, and corrosion prevention.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) license preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Experience working in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station.
  • OEM training or certification on specific nacelle systems (e.g., Goodrich, Spirit Aero Systems, Safran).
  • Familiarity with MRO tracking systems or digital maintenance records (e.g., Quantum, Corridor).
Travel

Travel may be required.

Onsite in Glendale, AZ.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasions.
  • Carrying, bending, walking, pushing, climbing, reaching.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in a machine shop/component repair environment.
  • Momentary exposure to high noises.
  • Exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents.
  • Personal Protection Equipment will be required for certain tasks.
