Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The employee has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

• Maintain and operate all equipment in a safe manner to avoid injury to self or others and demonstrate safety as a top priority.
• Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
• Report all Food Safety & Quality issues to a Supervisor, QA Manager, or Senior Manager.
• Inspecting/sorting the eggs and ensuring the best quality product being packaged.
• Responsible for confirming and verifying weight of product.
• Ensures the labels and product date and type is correct.
• Places proper labels on boxes.
• Ensures that bags and pails are properly sealed and clean.
• Inspect/Check the quality of eggs, removing broken eggs.
• Performs packing duties, including organizing, labeling, and preparing products for shipment.
• Operates palletizer equipment to stack, secure, and prepare pallets according to production and safety standards.
• Understands dates, expiration and item numbers.
• Minimizes product loss.
• Keeps work area neat, clean, and sanitary.
• Reports all work‑related injuries or unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.
• Uses appropriate safety equipment when required (ear plugs, rubber boots, safety glasses, face shields, aprons, bump caps, etc.).
• Follows instructions from supervisor and cooperates with coworkers and other departments; is willing to fill in where needed.
• Maintains good personal hygiene.
• Is able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.

• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures and incorporates safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
• Is self‑motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.

• Is able to work independently or with others in a team environment depending upon the assignment.

• Has the ability to work around required cleaning solutions.
• Effectively communicates in basic English (both verbal and written) and can speak, read and comprehend safety instructions, rules, warnings, short correspondence and memos in both normal and emergency situations.
• Can effectively present information on one‑on‑one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
• Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form and can deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.

• Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments.
• Possesses good hand‑eye coordination.
• Can stand on hard surface most of the shift, ascend and descend stairs, bend, stoop or crouch, grasp and reach.
• Can lift up to 50 lbs.
• Can stand for long periods of time.
• The noise levels in the work environment will range from moderate to loud.
