Manufacturing Operations Manager

Position Summary

Manage daily activities in support of order processing, materials management and manufacturing of all products sold by GWR Tooling Products Group. Working together with the tooling group management team, set strategic targets in line with corporate objectives and define key measurements. Develop personnel and practices to meet said targets, maintain departmental budgets, participate in sales and operations forecasting, and lead continual improvement and change activities to support the above.

• Plan, direct, and coordinate the manufacturing of products in compliance with company goals and objectives.
• Direct supervision of supervisors responsible for TP manufacturing departments.
• Analyze delivery issues (lateness) and provide solutions to satisfy customer and quality specifications.
• Improve operational systems, processes, and practices to support standardization, cost reduction, and lead time reduction while meeting production requirements in a cost‑efficient manner.
• Maintain employee safety by creating a safe, efficient working environment.
• Investigate and analyze new manufacturing processes where feasible.
• Develop a culture that embraces and supports continual improvement activities.
• Play a significant role in development of strategic planning in support of corporate and plant SD directives.
• Assist in development and management of metrics in support of productivity and quality improvement activities.
• Conduct regular reviews of manufacturing processes to identify waste, and implement projects focused on elimination/minimization of these wastes (Value Stream Analysis).
• Lead 5S and CIT activities in the manufacturing areas.

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.

• 5 years manufacturing experience such as milling, turning, grinding, and lapping.
• 5 years in a supervisory/management position in a manufacturing or office environment.
• Understanding of high‑mix low‑volume manufacturing environment and its challenges.
• Strong abilities to develop growth strategies and manage change.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
• 5years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook.
• Internet.
• SAP modules: SD, PP, MM, VC.

Negligible – Infrequent domestic and international travel may be required.
