As a Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Hand Solder Technician
- Level 2 here at Honeywell, you will spend approximately 90% of your time performing fine-pitch hand soldering, component installation, and rework on circuit card assemblies (CCAs) used in aerospace applications. This position requires advanced soldering skills, the ability to work under a microscope, and successful completion of a hands‑on soldering assessment during the interview process.

In this role, you will be required to complete formal J‑Std solder training. Hand soldering or process equipment experience is recommended. You will rely on work instructions and pre‑established processes to perform the functions of the job and will report to a supervisor with direction from a workflow specialist.

You will report directly to our supervisor and you'll work out of our Glendale, AZ location on an On‑site work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Perform precision hand soldering (approximately 90% of daily duties) on circuit card assemblies (CCAs).
  • Conduct solder rework, repair, and modification of electronic assemblies to J‑STD standards.
  • Work under a microscope assembling and soldering miniature electronic components.
  • Inspect solder joints and assemblies for workmanship, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, bills of material, and work instructions.
  • Perform self‑inspection using IPC/J‑STD workmanship criteria.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, and quality verification activities.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of recent hand soldering experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience soldering small electronic components, including surface mount (SMT) and through‑hole components.
  • Ability to pass a practical soldering assessment during the interview process.
  • Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods.
  • Must pass vision test; color vision required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • IPC J‑STD‑001 certification or previous J‑STD training.
  • IPC‑A‑610 familiarity.
  • Aerospace, military, medical device, or high‑reliability electronics experience.
  • CCA rework and repair experience.
