Family Nurse Practitioner Program – Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Arizona)
Nurse practitioners are able to assume many of the medical responsibilities once relegated to doctors. Advanced Nurse Practitioners (APNs) can obtain intake patient's health histories and perform complete physical examinations. They can diagnose medical conditions, order and interpret medical tests, prescribe and manage medicine, evaluate care, admit patients, counsel patients on wellness and chronic illness management, and develop care plans. The APN Family Nurse Practitioner must possess knowledge of both child and adult wellness and collaborate with other health professionals.
Responsibilities- Obtain intake patient's health histories and perform complete physical examinations.
- Diagnose medical conditions, order and interpret medical tests, and prescribe and manage medication.
- Evaluate care, admit patients, counsel patients on wellness and management of chronic illnesses, and develop care plans.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community agencies.
- Provide a holistic model of care.
- Graduate degree in Nursing (Masters or Doctorate) with specialization in Family Nursing.
- Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Knowledge of both child and adult wellness.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
