Banner Surgery Center – Thunderbird is managed by Atlas Healthcare Partners. Located on the Banner Thunderbird Medical Center Campus, the surgery center offers exceptional care and outstanding customer service to patients and physicians in the West Valley of the Phoenix community. This ASC can accommodate all specialties and offers 7 operating rooms, 8 pre‑op bays, and 18 PACU bays. This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and the standards of professional nursing practice. The holder is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by themselves or others under their direction. The role utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
- Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within the appropriate timeframe; reviews information from other healthcare team members; reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers; completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
- Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, using assessment data and input from the patient, family, and health team; initiates a plan based on patient‑specific needs and medical plan of care; goals for patients are realistic, measurable, and developed with the patient/family; considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific, and educational needs; collaborates with multidisciplinary team members; reviews and revises the plan as patient needs change.
- Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team; provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan, compliant with policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements; promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
- Evaluates patients’ and families’ responses to care and teaching, revising the plan as needed; evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with team members; evaluates patient response and effectiveness of teaching.
- Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; documentation is legible, timely, and in accordance with policy; reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions, and patient responses; notes physician orders accurately and promptly.
- Provides care based on best evidence; may participate in research activities; participates in department or facility leadership; engages in education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors; promotes growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
