Job Description: Provide Occupational Safety & Health and Quality Assurance support for a large diverse support services contractor workforce, in a military defense systems testing environment, with a team of other Safety/QA Specialists, under the direction of a Safety/QA Manager. Responsible for conducting section Quality Control and Safety audits, investigations of personal injury and vehicle accidents, and inspecting buildings and shop areas for compliance with safety regulations and guidance such as OSHA, ARMY, and EPA.

Responsible for reviewing and enforcing TRAX Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs). Assists in the education and enforcement of company Safety, Fleet Vehicle, and Quality Policies. Continually assesses current practices, identify areas of improvement, and solicit process improvements. Secondary duties include,
1) the identification, analysis, communication, and mitigation of common industrial support activity hazards, as well as dynamically emerging hazards relative to test activities.
2) investigation and reporting of post-incident causal factors analysis;
3) contract compliance activity inspections, work center process improvement /procedures reviews, and interaction with Government subject matter experts and evaluators, to facilitate a continuously improving Quality/Safety. Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission.

Duties
  • Confirms that audit procedures are properly carried out and maintained.
  • Determines overall compliance by conducting inspections on buildings and areas to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Responsible for conducting investigations of personal injury and vehicle accidents.
  • Resolves safety and quality problems by maintaining an active presence in the field.
  • Maintains and investigates Near Misses and Safety Hazard Reports.
  • Consults with management and other specialists on enhancing operational procedures to improve overall efficiency and safety.
  • Discusses Standard Operations with management and makes recommendations that are time sensitive for improvement and correction.
  • Functions as an information source for the field and establishes a safety presence for the range, YPG and TRAX.
  • Assists in administering the company drug and alcohol program to include random testing with on-site collections of urine and breath samples.
  • Prepares evaluation reports and submits them to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:
    • Must have a BS in a Safety related safety/environmental related field or equivalent applied field experience within safety and quality control aspects.
    • Training in safety/environmental courses, seminars, or certifications.
    • Must be knowledgeable of OSHA, DOT, and NFPA Regulations.
  • Job Skill Requirements:
    • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite.
    • Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and be able to work with a variety of personality types.

    Qualifications:
    • Level II Ammunition Certification.
    • HAZWOPER 40-hour class.
    • Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT).
    • 30-hour Occupational Safety and Health Training Course. (Construction or General Industry or both)
    • Experience working with DOD or other government agencies.
    • Certified Vehicle Accident Investigator.
    • Experience with the operations and maintenance of military equipment such as weapons and vehicles.
Physical Requirements
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.
