Summary
The QA/QC Unitized Manager is responsible for ensuring the overall quality and timeliness of unitized shop assemblies, ensuring adherence to shop drawings, waterproofing best practices, proper fabrication sequencing, and overall aesthetics.
Essential Functions- Streamline fabrication drawing throughput and interface with Engineering and Shop to improve quality of releases and programming.
- Hold Engineering and manufacturing project meetings to improve execution through front‑end collaboration.
- Communicate and implement quality‑assurance best practices for manufacturing operations, fabrication, assembly, and glazing processes.
- Work with the Shop Manager/Supervisor to develop, maintain and communicate safety, quality and productivity.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Design staff to coordinate system design with fabrication requirements.
- Assist with the development of project‑specific QA/QC plans, update standard QA/QC procedures as needed, and ensure proper organization and storage of QA paperwork.
- Review fabrication of critical components in production facilities and take an active role in continuous improvement.
- Chair weekly unitized production meetings with PMs, AMs, and Detailing to ensure understanding of the unitized projects running through the shop.
- Maintain a firm understanding of the status of all materials required for shop fabrication of unitized work and work with PMs and Shop personnel to ensure materials are present and accounted for.
- Help sequence and prioritize unitized workflow through the shop to effectively feed all projects in a timely manner; evaluate production efficiency and capacity based on project complexity.
- Assist in the fabrication of all mock‑ups (in‑house, laboratory, and on‑site) to ensure adherence to shop drawings and overall quality, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Oversee performance testing and troubleshoot as needed.
- Work with QC Field Manager, Superintendents and Foreman to understand fabrication issues that make it to the field, and help correct deficiencies with shop personnel.
- Serve as a resource for shop staff, PMs, FMs, and QC FM on quality control, water‑tightness, and constructability issues.

The position requires work in both shop and office environments. The individual will spend a significant amount of time in a manufacturing environment and must be aware of safety rules and regulations. Office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers will be used.
Physical DemandsIndividuals may need to sit or stand as required and will walk around manufacturing facilities. Additional physical demands include climbing on trucks, moving around equipment, lifting materials, and using machinery.
Position Type and HoursThis is a full‑time position. Regular hours and days are Monday through Friday, as dictated by the shop crew work schedule. Hours may be flexible depending on company needs.
TravelOccasional travel may be expected.
RequiredEducation and Experience
Degree in Construction Management or equivalent, or 3–5 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PreferredEducation and Experience
Prior experience with a firm focused on the assembly of metal facades or glass and glazing systems.
