Job Description Summary
Maryland Sea Grant (MDSG) invites applications for a Research, Proposal, and Reporting Coordinator to join a dynamic team advancing coastal and marine science across the Chesapeake and Coastal Bays. This position is ideal for a highly organized, intellectually curious professional who is interested in shaping, supporting, and managing impactful research programs.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will work at the intersection of science and strategy—supporting research competitions, coordinating proposal development and submission, and managing project reporting to ensure the success and integrity of the research portfolio. Other duties may include leading Maryland Sea Grant research workshops and assisting in strategic planning and program reporting efforts. You will report to the MDSG senior program manager and support the Director of Maryland Sea Grant with the research portfolio.
Expertise- Specialized training or experience in coastal, marine, estuarine, or environmental science to support grants management in the following focus areas:
Healthy Coastal Ecosystems;
Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture;
Resilient Communities and Economies; and Environmental Literacy and Workforce Development. - Experience with federal proposal solicitation and review, grants writing or management, and professional development programming.
- PhD required, preferably in a field related to marine or coastal science.
- Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office, AI tools, and database management software.
- Attention to detail and solid experience with program management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with teams of researchers and administrators.
- Interest or experience in developing and monitoring grant budgets.
- Working knowledge of federal grants rules and regulations.
- Familiarity with university administrative, research, and/or sponsored programs applications.
UMCES - Maryland Sea Grant College Program, College Park, MD. Ability to work in person and virtually is required.
Employment Typeand Salary
One‑year contractual position (C2). Salary range is $60,000 to $70,000, depending on experience. The University of Maryland offers an extensive benefits package.
