Job Summary
About the position:
This position is Non‑appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Luke Youth Center. The role involves continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance.
Luke Air Force Base, Glendale, Arizona, just west of Phoenix. The base hosts the 56th Fighter Wing, the largest fighter wing in the Air Force, and supports over 5,500 military and civilian employees, 6,700 family members, and 65,000 retirees.
Responsibilities- Perform a full range of simple cooking tasks, including preparing and cooking items with minimal processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and both fresh and canned vegetables.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, snacks, and special event meals, balancing recipes for varying cooking times and portion sizes.
- Cook meats, fish, poultry, and produce by roasting, broiling, baking, boiling, grilling, steaming, and stewing.
- Prepare soups, broths, gravies, sauces, puddings, salad dressings, cakes, pies, and other baked goods, adjusting recipes for serving size and testing yields.
- Ensure all meals comply with USDA Child and Adult Food Program and Air Force standards, and are healthy, age‑appropriate, and allergy‑aware.
- Use an automated ordering system via prime vendor, verify deliveries for wholesomeness, age, packaging integrity, and source approval.
- Prepare dough, dough batters, and other ingredients, portion foods for distribution, and manage kitchen sanitation and equipment cleaning.
- Maintain inventory and conduct inspections of food service and storage areas to prevent food‑borne illnesses.
- Coordinate with supervisors for meal approvals and modifications to enhance flavor and presentation.

Payment of PCS costs is not authorized. The position is part of a bargaining unit, AFGE Local 1547, and is a Non‑appropriated Fund (NAF) role within Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities. Real valid source identity documents are required for installation access.
