Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers.Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane.Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.Adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss.Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of repairs needed.Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with questions about products sold within the department and store.Comply with all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
