Trailer Technician

Job Summary

As a trailer technician, you are responsible for performing basic maintenance, service, and repair of J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis, and other equipment to ensure that all equipment meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times.

• Demonstrate basic knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including air brake systems and FHWA inspections.
• Accurately perform basic repairs up to company and manufacturer specifications, completing work orders and demonstrating understanding of company requirements for Standard Repair Times (SRT) and warranty guidelines.
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures.
• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers.
• Work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends as needed.

• Minimum 18 years of age with 1 year of experience in semi‑trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent education/experience, including military experience.
• Must be able to supply own basic tools or purchase through the toolbox purchase program.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work in shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interpret ideas accurately.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
• Proficient computer skills, comfortable with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Physically able to lift/move up to 50 pounds and to wear appropriate protective gear/PPE.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred) with 1 year of experience in semi‑trailer maintenance and repair.
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes.
• Basic welding skills (MIG and stick).
