Position Summary
The HVAC Technician installs, maintains, and repairs climate control systems across campus facilities. This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.
Core Responsibilities- System Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine preventative maintenance on campus HVAC/R equipment, including motors, bearings, coils, and filters.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair malfunctions in heating, air conditioning, and ventilation units to ensure optimal building temperatures.
- Building Automation: Monitor and program Energy Management Systems (EMS) and computerized building controls to regulate temperatures remotely and maximize energy efficiency.
- Installations & Upgrades: Plan, lay out, and install new HVAC ductwork, heating units, and cooling systems during campus expansions or renovations.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to EPA standards, proper handling of refrigerants, and university safety policies.
- Emergency Response: Provide on-call, after-hours support for critical HVAC emergencies in dormitories, classrooms, and campus buildings.
- Completing other duties and tasks with utmost integrity and professionalism, as directed, and not necessarily mentioned in this description, may be asked on a volunteer basis.
- Commitment to the University’s faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith.
- Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff.
- The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings.
- Demonstrated alignment with and enthusiastic support for the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University, including signing the University's Statement of Faith and Core Commitments annually.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or technical certification in HVAC maintenance preferred.
- Experience: 2 to 5+ years of hands-on commercial or residential HVAC experience.
- Certifications: EPA Section 608 Certification is required.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift 65 lbs, climb ladders, and work comfortably in varying weather conditions and confined spaces.
This position is considered to be full-time, non-exempt from overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
