Lead Diesel Truck Mechanic
Client is seeking an experienced Lead Diesel Truck Mechanic for our location in Phoenix (Glendale), AZ. As a Lead Diesel Technician/Mechanic, you are responsible for assessing and repairing our fleet of Semi Tractor/Trailers at the Railyard. In addition, you will also lead our current team of mechanics during day-to-day operations.
Day To Day:
- Identifies problems with mechanical, hydraulic, diesel & electrical systems and executes solutions
- Reads & understands hydraulic & electrical schematics
- Troubleshoots and repairs diesel engines (Cat, Cummins, Detroit).
- Performs maintenance & mechanical repairs on Hostlers & Forklifts.
- Maintains routine maintenance schedules on all Tractor Semi/ Trailers
- Works independently or with a team
- Communicates with other terminal operators, mechanics, and office staff via two-way radio.
- Responsible for entire mechanical operation, and for the entire shop operation (safety, administration, and productivity)
- Responsible for training and orientation of all employees and ensures that every employee has the necessary knowledge, skills, and ability to perform each task assigned.
- Responsible for the scheduling of preventative maintenance program and work force to achieve goals of 100% compliance.
- Directly supervises and evaluates all levels of mechanics and promotes as required.
Must Haves:
- 3-5 years of Tractor Semi/Trailer repair & Maintenance experience
- Knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, electrical, cooling, and exhaust systems
- Able to perform maintenance inspections that include tune-ups, oil changes, and other key services.
- Able to inspect mileage, belts, flushing fluids, and gasket replacements.
- Hydraulic and electrical maintenance experience is required
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Open availability required (All Shifts & Holidays)
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
- Owning tools preferred but not required
- Valid Driver's License
