We're hiring a Fire Alarm Technician to Live. Work. Explore. at the south rim of the Grand Canyon!

Assure operation of fire alarm, emergency lighting, exit signs and other related equipment/systems. Work in conjunction with Xanterra Risk Department Managers and outside Telecommunications Contractors.

Position Type:
Full-Time, Year-Round

Pay: $27.55 per hour

Schedule:

Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Housing:
Eligible for a Private 1-Bedroom Apartment for $352 per month and $352 housing deposit.

• Responsible for preventative maintenance, testing and record keeping for all fire alarm and suppression systems on the property as required by code.
• Identify and resolve issues with fire alarm and suppression systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA and National Park Service standards.
• Install replacement fire alarm and suppression system components.
• Respond to all Trouble alarms, resolving the issues quickly and returning systems to full operation.
• Responsible for initiation of material orders, maintenance of inventories and accounting for all materials and tools.
• Responsible for coordinating all work-related activities with the National Park Service, Risk management, Fire & Security and Switchboard.
• Ensure that all building codes as related to the position are being adhered to.
• Coordinate visits with outside contractors to complete complex repairs and new installations.
• Comply with all safety, risk management, and environmental policies related to the position.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of fire alarm and fire suppression system operation.
• Knowledge of applicable codes for fire alarm and suppression systems.
• Must be familiar with the use of materials and equipment common to the trade.
• Know basic electrical and electronic circuitry principles as they apply to fire alarm systems and the ability to stay current with new technology.
• Must have ability to identify code and equipment deficiencies and recommend proper corrective action.
• Must have physical ability and agility to enter confined spaces, ascend/descend ladders and to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 90 days of start date and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.

Frequently:
Stand, walk, handle, reach outward/above shoulders, climb, crawl, squat/kneel, bend, lift/carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull up to 25 lbs.

Occasionally:
Sit, lift/carry up to 100 lbs., push/pull up to 40 lbs.
