Ombudsman Educational Services seeks an Outreach Specialist to engage and support middle and high school students in alternative education programs. In this role, you'll identify and connect with at-risk and nontraditional learners, build trusting relationships with families, and collaborate with partner school districts to improve enrollment, attendance, and student retention. You will coordinate referrals, track student progress, support behavior and social-emotional needs, and advocate for students to access needed services.

This position blends school, family, and community outreach to help students succeed in a safe, personalized, and structured learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage at-risk and nontraditional students for alternative education programs.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families to support enrollment, attendance, and retention.
  • Collaborate with partner school districts and community agencies to coordinate services and referrals.
  • Monitor and document student progress, attendance, and outreach activities in required systems.
  • Support behavior and social-emotional needs using trauma-informed and positive behavior strategies.
  • Organize and participate in school and community events to promote programs and resources.
  • Advocate for students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs within school teams.
  • Provide outreach through phone, email, home visits, and community meetings as appropriate.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on outreach outcomes for school and district partners.
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, student-centered learning environment aligned with the organization's mission.
