Resident Services Coordinator II

At Mercy Housing, we believe everyone deserves a stable place to call home. We work to create affordable housing communities where residents can thrive. We're looking for a caring, resourceful, and people-focused Resident Services Coordinator II to support residents at Vista Alegre, an affordable housing community serving seniors in Glendale, Arizona. If you enjoy connecting with people, helping others navigate challenges, and creating a welcoming community, this could be a great role for you!

Location:

Vista Alegre | Glendale, AZ | On-Site Pay: $21.21–$23.50/hour, depending on experience + sign-on bonus up to $2,500. Spanish/English bilingual candidates and individuals with social services experience are strongly preferred.

This is a hands-on, people-centered role! About 60% of your time will be spent working in the office, with the remaining 40% focused on resident outreach and engagement.

Duties include:

  • Build relationships with residents and help connect them with helpful resources and services.
  • Support residents using a trauma-informed and compassionate approach.
  • Have thoughtful and sometimes difficult conversations with residents while providing excellent customer service.
  • Get to know the community by conducting needs assessments, attending community meetings, and listening to residents.
  • Plan and lead programs, activities, and events that support resident well-being and stability.
  • Track program participation and outcomes and enter required information into Mercy Housing's database.
  • Help meet reporting requirements for programs and funding partners.
  • Evaluate programs and services to understand what's working and where improvements can be made.
  • Partner with community organizations and agencies to connect residents with additional resources.
  • Support and organize the community food pantry, including preparing and occasionally delivering food boxes to residents.
  • Help maintain clean and welcoming spaces, including the community room, kitchen, pantry, and office.
  • Get out into the community - you'll distribute flyers and other information directly to residents, including occasional door-to-door outreach.
  • Participate in Mercy Housing activities and collaborate with community partners.
  • Take on other projects and responsibilities as needed.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in community development, social services, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • English/Spanish bilingual skills.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges.
  • Experience working with seniors and/or individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Experience conducting community assessments.
  • Experience organizing community groups, events, or programs.

Skills:

  • Ability to build positive relationships and work well as part of a team.
  • Communicate clearly and listen with empathy.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Navigate conversations with individuals experiencing challenges related to mental health, disabilities, substance use, legal matters, or financial difficulties.
  • Stay organized and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Physical & Working Requirements:

  • This role includes both office and community-based work.
  • You should be comfortable walking around the property, climbing stairs, and occasionally pushing or pulling items weighing less than 30 pounds.
  • You should also be able to read documents, communicate clearly in English, stay focused on detailed tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities throughout the day.
  • Mercy Housing is a fair chance employer; while we conduct background checks for all positions, we will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
