Overview
Manage all vehicle and parts - related logistics operations across the company's network of workshops, distribution centers, warehouses, and storage locations.
Take the lead in developing, implementing, and improving materials management practices with the core aim of "delivering the right products to the right place at the right time".
Research current global supply chain trends and introduce solutions to optimize the company's entire supply chain and distribution network.
Supervise freight shipments, plan routes, track orders, and ensure proper product storage and distribution.
Play a crucial role in the decision - making process between RORO and container shipments for vehicle imports.
Keep an eye on transportation costs and ensure compliance with all shipping requirements and regulations.
Work closely with the company's Service Operations Manager to manage materials and plan for key aspects like supplier performance, container management, packaging, quality, damage claims, on - time delivery, inventory turns, inventory record accuracy, warehousing, PFEP, obsolescence, and running change management.
Manage the cycle counting process, establish relevant policies to strictly control inventory and maintain accurate records. Quickly analyze variances, find root causes, and take corrective actions.
Monitor and measure inventory levels to prevent excess, aging, and obsolete inventory.
Focus on meeting importing requirements and customs compliance.
Identify, select, and manage FVL service providers. Coordinate with the Purchasing department on all quotations and bids.
Build new 3PL partnerships and strengthen existing ones.
Successfully negotiate with suppliers to achieve safety, cost, quality, delivery, and performance goals.
Use supplier performance and cost data to create and execute action plans for better supplier performance and cost reduction.
Suggest improvements to current or planned vehicle and spare parts logistics processes.
Evaluate the impact of logistics changes such as routing, shipping modes, production volumes, carriers, or transportation methods, and provide advice on process and flow optimization.
Directly oversee and reduce premium freight moves (expedites).
Coordinate special vehicle shipments for demonstrations, auto shows, and special events.
Promote continuous improvement processes to eliminate waste.
Required Skills & Experiences- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in logistics, supply chain management, or operations.
- Fluency in English and Chinese, with one as the native language.
- At least 10 years of work experience in automotive logistics, supply chain, or transportation, including experience in importing and customs.
- Knowledge of OEM vehicle and/or parts transportation strategies.
- In-depth understanding of logistics processes, covering freight forwarding and vehicle/automotive parts transportation by air, sea, road, and rail.
- Ability to monitor supplier performance through scorecards, metrics, KPIs, etc. (able to provide examples).
- Strong negotiation skills and proven experience in conducting RFQs and bids.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally.
- MBA is highly preferred.
- Working-level experience in packaging for expendable and returnable dunnage, ocean containers, etc.
- Experience with distributors and knowledge of current parts supply trends.
- Strong inventory control skills.
- Advanced knowledge of FVL transportation and logistics service providers.
- Understanding of global port and rail infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Lean principles and practices.
