Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically having a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 26,000 and up to 32,000 pounds on public roads (or equivalent) in a full range of traffic conditions and at highway speeds to transport cargo. Also operates forklift(s) to facilitate cargo loading/unloading.
Responsibilities- Drive one or more types of heavy trucks, such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, and tractor trailers, which are typically equipped with air brakes.
- Operate one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered forklift trucks to facilitate loading and unloading duties.
- Perform operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation.
- Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Physical effort is moderate to heavy. Work requires reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls; associated duties require stooping, bending, and climbing. Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier objects with assistance.
Working ConditionsDrivers work mostly outside and operate vehicles in all kinds of traffic and weather on public roads (or equivalent), and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Drivers are exposed to dirt, fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading the vehicle. They drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and/or part‑time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
