We are a fast-growing apparel brand founded by a high-profile creative leader. We currently operate as a DTC business with plans to expand into wholesale in our second year. As a young company transitioning from early-stage startup to structured, scalable business, we are building a team of driven, collaborative individuals who want to influence the future of the brand.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a Buyer / Merchandise Planner who can thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment and take ownership of building a foundational merchandising function. This hybrid role blends assortment planning, buying, forecasting, Open-to-Buy management, sales analysis, and cross-functional leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Create early range plans in alignment with Founder’s aesthetic, brand direction, and seasonal themes
- Partner with Design and Product Development to guide assortments prior to proto reviews
- Buy final seasonal lines after development milestones are complete
- Manage product lifecycle planning, including new launch planning and end-of-life strategies
- Own and maintain the Open-to-Buy (OTB) for all categories
- Forecast demand, build seasonal plans, and update financial models as needed
- Partner with Marketing on sales analytics, performance reporting, and forecast refinement
- Partner with Warehouse/Inventory Management to ensure inventory accuracy
- Own all allocations across DTC channels
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend reorders, markdowns, and replenishment strategies
- Support logistics with cross-functional coordination as needed
- Build and standardize merchandising and planning processes where none currently exist
- Help implement future systems, including merchandising/ERP tools
- Create scalable tools in Excel and Shopify for assortment planning, forecasting, and reporting
- 5+ years in Buying, Planning, or a hybrid Merchandising role in apparel
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing an OTB
- Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, forecasting tools)
- Experience using DTC analytics platforms (Shopify experience a plus)
- Strong understanding of sales analysis, inventory flow, and product lifecycle
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with senior leadership
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable making recommendations based on data
- A self-starter who can build structure where none exists
- Highly collaborative and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a lean team
- Flexible, adaptable, and energized by quick pivots
- Calm under pressure, solution-oriented, and eager to learn
- Motivated to be part of a brand in its early stages and help shape its trajectory
